Windows 10 or later, Stream Deck software 7.2 or later, a Stream Deck with keys and microphone access. macOS and dials are not supported.
Give your words a key.
Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. Drag Record & Transcribe onto a key in the Stream Deck app.
Choose your microphone and model.
Select your input and run the 2-second microphone test. Choose a model yourself; use a Multi variant for languages other than English.
Tap. Speak. Tap again.
The first transcription downloads your selected model. Progress appears on the key. Once the download is complete, that model works offline.

Does the plugin send my audio to the cloud?
No. All transcription happens locally on your machine using OpenAI Whisper. Your audio never leaves your computer.
What happens on first use?
The plugin automatically downloads the selected Whisper model to your machine. You will see live download progress on the Stream Deck key. After that, no internet connection is required.
Which output modes are available?
Three modes: Clipboard only, Auto-Paste into the active window, and Auto-Send which pastes and fires an Enter keystroke, ideal for AI chat interfaces.
Is Speech to Text the same plugin as Arise Speech to Text or Local AI Transcribe?
Yes. Arise Speech to Text is a previous name used on this website for the same plugin, which is also known as Local AI Transcribe. Its canonical Elgato Marketplace name is Speech to Text.
