Arise Slack Huddle Control

Arise Slack Huddle Control brings six huddle actions to your Stream Deck with a three-state visual model that shows when Slack is offline, idle, or in a live huddle. No tokens or accounts required.

What it does

Arise Slack Huddle Control puts mute, camera, raise hand, share screen, open chat thread, and leave huddle on dedicated Stream Deck keys. The plugin keeps key colors aligned to actual Slack state so you always know whether Slack is running, whether a huddle is active, and which controls are live.

The plugin works on Windows without any API tokens, Slack accounts, or external services.

Actions

Six actions are available. Drag any of them onto keys in the Stream Deck app.

  • Toggle Mute — mute or unmute your microphone in the huddle.
  • Toggle Camera — turn your video on or off.
  • Raise Hand — signal to the group without interrupting the conversation.
  • Share Screen — start or stop screen sharing.
  • Chat Thread — open the huddle chat panel directly from the deck.
  • Leave Huddle — leave or end the huddle cleanly.

Key state model

Keys change color automatically depending on Slack's current state.

  • Grey / zinc — Slack is not running. Launch Slack and the keys will update.
  • Amber / yellow — Slack is running but you are not in a huddle. Join or start one.
  • Full action color — A huddle is active. Your controls are live.

Docked and detached huddles

The plugin automatically detects whether the Slack huddle panel is attached to the main Slack window or opened as a separate detached window. No settings change is needed when you switch between modes.

Setup

  • Install Arise Slack Huddle Control from the Elgato Marketplace.
  • Drag any of the six actions onto Stream Deck keys.
  • Open Slack. Keys shift from grey to amber.
  • Join or start a huddle. Keys activate to full color.

Requirements

  • Windows
  • Slack desktop app (not browser Slack)
  • Elgato Stream Deck hardware (any generation)
  • Stream Deck software version 6.9 or later

Troubleshooting

  • Keys stay grey — Slack is not running or is still loading. Wait for Slack to fully start.
  • Keys stay amber — You are not in a huddle. Join or start one and the keys will activate.
  • Pressing keys does nothing during a huddle — Click once inside the Slack window to make sure it has system focus, then try pressing the key again.
  • Actions stop responding after detaching the huddle panel — The plugin should auto-recover within a few seconds. If it does not, leave and rejoin the huddle.
  • Plugin stopped working after a Slack update — Restart the Stream Deck application to let the plugin rediscover the Slack process.

Smart Profile tip

Assign a Smart Profile in Stream Deck so your Slack Huddle keys appear automatically when Slack is in focus. Open Stream Deck Preferences, select your Slack Huddle profile, and set Slack as its linked application. Note that only the Slack desktop app is supported — browser-based Slack does not work with this plugin.

  • Smart Profiles activate only when the Stream Deck software is running as a background tray process — the configuration window does not need to be open.
  • Combine with the Elgato Slack plugin to add channel and DM navigation alongside huddle controls on the same profile page.
