Stream Deck with ChatGPT and AI tools
Stream Deck turns your best AI prompts and your microphone into physical keys — so you spend less time typing prompts and more time acting on answers. Works with any AI chat interface that accepts keyboard input.
Stream Deck as an AI control surface
AI chat tools are fast once you have the right prompt — but constructing the same prompt manually every time wastes the speed advantage. Every recurring task means opening the chat, clicking into the input box, recalling or copy-pasting the template, and then typing context on top. That overhead adds up. Stream Deck puts your best prompt templates on physical keys and your hands on a microphone. Together they cut the setup friction that makes AI feel repetitive for recurring tasks.
The approach works with any AI chat interface that accepts keyboard input — ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Gemini, or any locally hosted model with a browser or desktop UI. Stream Deck does not need API access or a special integration. It operates at the input layer: paste text, trigger shortcuts, activate voice capture.
Prompt shortcuts with keys
Pressing a key pastes a complete prompt template into the active AI chat input. No typing, no searching through past conversations, no clipboard juggling. Switch context by pressing a different key — each key can carry a different prompt style or purpose. This works across ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Gemini, and any other interface that receives keyboard input.
- One key per prompt template — status update, blocker hunt, meeting summary, email draft — each ready in one press.
- Project Management Prompts gives you seven battle-tested PM prompt templates pre-built for this exact pattern.
- No API key or plugin required — Stream Deck pastes text the same way you would type it.
Voice dictation into AI
Local AI Transcribe uses the Whisper model to transcribe your voice entirely on-device. Enable Auto-Paste and your transcription lands directly into the active window — your AI chat input box — the moment you release the dictation key. Enable Auto-Send and the message is submitted without touching the keyboard. Your audio never leaves the machine: there is no cloud pass-through for the voice capture stage.
- Auto-Paste places the transcription directly in the focused input field — no copy-paste step.
- Audio stays local — Whisper runs on your hardware, not a remote service.
Combining prompts and voice
Press a prompt key to paste the template into the chat. Then immediately press the dictation key and speak your specific context. The template lands first, your spoken context follows. No keyboard needed for either step. The AI receives a structured prompt shape plus your natural-language input — a much richer signal than dictation alone.
This is the highest-leverage pattern for recurring AI tasks, especially those that always follow the same structure but have variable content: status updates, meeting summaries, drafting replies to a specific email thread, or generating a brief from rough notes. Standardise the structure on a key; speak the variable part.
Context capture before AI
If something important happened in a call or screen session — a verbal agreement, a quick demo, a key insight stated once — Arise Flashback captures the last 10 to 90 seconds from a rolling buffer. Export the clip and send it to your AI tool for a written summary. No re-explaining, no reconstructing from memory.
- Retroactive capture means you press after the moment occurs, not before — no need to predict what will be worth saving.
Tips
- Keep your highest-performing prompts on the top page of your Stream Deck layout — friction at the key level undoes the efficiency gain elsewhere.
- Use Smart Profiles to auto-switch to your AI prompt layout when ChatGPT, Copilot, or Claude is the active window — your layout adapts without manual switching.
- Start with two key types: one paste-prompt key and one dictation key. Learn the combined pattern before expanding to a full prompt library.
